Road Closed!

On Sunday, we had rain, hailstones, sleet, snow and a fierce wind. The hills above Gorbio are covered in snow. Hailstones stopped traffic.

This photograph was taken yesterday where part of the road from Roquebrune to Menton is closed. A gorgeous day with spectacular seas. Compare it to yesterday's photograph - taken just a few yards further along the Promenade.

Tomorrow - come and see something I never expected to see in Menton...

And after that, we'll go back to The Chestnut Fête in Roquebrune village for a last look.

et dire que je me plains parce qu'il y a trois gouttes d'eau qui tombent. Impressionnante cette photo et très graphique avec la mer qui se prépare a engloutir les bancs.

Breathtaking, but don't risk your safety for us!

I am hoping for snow here, but only after the 19th when I'm out of school!

wow! When I lived in California I would often see large waves like this crash over the road. We are having terrible winter weather here in England as well.

Lot's for me to enjoy here , j. The long sweep of the prom, the refelctions and textures of the wet and dry, the sand and the pebbles and the nicely detailed riverlets in the sand. The line of banches facing up to the spray captured by a fastish shutter speed, and the Chrsitmas festoon lights that make it look as if the salty Mediterranean has turned to ice. Great snese of the rough power of it all where we normally expect an over luxuriant soft Mediterranean playground.

Looks like the end of a water ride at an amusement park.

This is spectacular especially when you consider that the Med. usually is so calm..well caught.

Looks like the waves are tossing rocks.

Good that this road is closed! No sow here and has warmed up to 3 degrees C.

Wow...! That is quite a storm! I saw in your other photos that there was also quite some damage!
Great capture of the roaring sea!

Powerful wind, altho I'd prefer this to our ice and snow!
