The Village Fête - the Blessing of the Animals

The Blessing of the Animals. First the priest read a short prayer and then walked amongst them. Unfortunately the horses and dog you see in the smaller photograph arrived just a few minutes too late. These horses (and others, out of shot) are there every year. They walk down from their home above the village. I love to hear their clip-clop on the cobble stones you see in the main photo. You can see the dog's pic on Riviera Dogs today. Teo is Jacdterrier, a breed that originated in Germany.

Tomorrow - the live offering to the curé.

c'est une belle tradition, belle série. J'ai bien aimé le reportage sur la brebis, une star maintenant.

I once helped organize a blessing of the animals at my downtown D.C. church. The Park Police horses couldn't make it because of a demonstration on the Mall, but three K-9 dogs and their police officer handlers attended, as did an assortment of cats, dogs, gerbils, and one gold fish. Wonderful photo.

I love the them, the colors, and the look in the horse's eye. Very nice.

What a beautiful tradition. I love the things I can learn by looking at others blogs :)

Familiar scene. I think our Blessings take place in October; guess I'd better check it out. The Basilica in Msp gets a huge turnout. The ritual is actually performed inside the church for the most part. Great scene.
