Fête du Citron - the Pirates' Boat

Where's Johnny Depp? Each of the designs at the festival is constructed, not only by the metal workers and gardeners but in the final states, the oranges and lemons are fixed by volunteers from various local towns and villages - in this case, the pirate ship was created by one of the local schools.

With so much money and effort spent on these designs, the award for 1st place must be staggering.

Looks like you could get in that and sail away.

That is a whole lot of lemons in the festival. Very interesting.

Another great thing on this festival is that if one gets thirsty there's always a lemon or an orange to be grabbed to make some nice juice :)

A lemon festival. How unique. The aroma must be citrus-y. MB

That's what I've been wondering about... The complexity of the designs is remarkable. The dragon must've been one of the most challenging.

Jilly, have you ever been involved int he construction of the floats?

This is amazing...I worked on a float once and we used chicken wire and tissues.....THAT was a job....this seems unbelievable!

Amazing work. The flowers and figures around the ship are even more spectacular.
